Board of Directors

Meet the Board

The Missoula Education Foundation is governed by a Board of Directors.  We invite you to learn more about our current Board Members:

Laura Scoville – MEF Board President

My name is Laura Scoville and I’m the current board president for the Missoula Education Foundation. I’ve been on the board for several years and have seen it grow from no Executive Director to an organization with an ED who has a great vision and passion for expansion. My dad was a math teacher for over 30 years in District 1 (now MCPS). I saw the time, energy and dedication he put into helping his students succeed, often using his own resources. As a graduate of MCPS, I was a benefactor of other teachers doing the same. Our current students are our future teachers and leaders, and I believe we need to give them the best chance at success – and recognize and celebrate them for that accomplishment. I hope to lead our board in a positive and encouraging way to continue to grow the Missoula Education Foundation.

David Rott – MEF Board Vice President

Before joining the MEF Board, David worked for Missoula County Public Schools as a teacher, elementary school principal, and as the Executive Director of Human Resources before retiring in 2023. David has served on the Board of Directors for the Missoula Big Brothers and Sister and Kiwanis programs and on advisory boards for the Retired Senior Volunteer Program and Arts Missoula GLOBAL. He and his wife Kim have lived in Missoula for 40 years, raising four children and now enjoy their time kayaking, hiking, cross country skiing and being with their grandchildren.

Marcia Holland – MEF Board Secretary

Marcia Holland is an attorney whose career spanned trial and appellate workin Alaska for 22 years and teaching at the law school in Missoula for 10 years. Marcia had previously served for 12 years as a Missoula County Public Schools trustee, including as board chair. Marcia’s adult son graduated from Hellgate High School where she was an active parent volunteer. She continues to work with elementary and high school students as the Kiwanis liaison to Key Clubs and Lowell School. Marcia currently serves as the secretary for MEF. She is passionate about supporting and expanding the presence of MEF in our community. Marcia is excited about helping to support educators and students through the work of MEF, including the Educator of the Year recognition, Classroom Grants program, student scholarships, and student recognition at the Most Inspiring Students Award banquet.

Ashley Grant – MEF Board Treasurer

As a board member and Treasurer of MEF’s Board of Directors, I assist in overseeing the financial commitments, processes, and budgeting efforts for the organization. Professionally, I am involved in the affordable housing industry in developing safe, affordable, and dignified housing for those in our and other communities in the western states. My career and the goals of MEF intersect both in the funding and financial capacities, but also in the mission in providing opportunities for all to succeed. Personally, as a parent of kiddos attending MCPS schools, I am proud to see firsthand the work MEF provides in supporting students and teachers within the district and am excited to continue to support the growth and reach of the organization as a board member. I serve on the board and support MEF for their dedication in providing support and funding of unique opportunities for the advancement of the learning atmosphere, along with MEF’s recognition of the accomplishments by both students and teachers of MCPS. It’s an honor to work with an organization who expands on the enthusiasm and passion of the education community of Missoula.

Doug Rossberg – MEF Board Trustee

Doug Rossberg currently serves as the Title I Instructional Coach for Missoula County Public Schools and as the Vice President of the Missoula Education Association. Doug has been an educator over 15 years as a classroom teacher and instructional coach. Through partnerships with the United Way, Zero to 5 Montana, University of Montana Institute for Early Childhood Education, Montana Federation of Public Employees, and the Missoula Early Learning Fellows, he has developed connections across the Missoula community to coordinate improved outcomes for Missoula’s students. As a board member of the Missoula Education Foundation, Doug hopes to empower Missoula’s educators with the tools and resources to create dynamic, engaging, and unique learning experiences. He is particularly passionate about supporting the classroom grant program, which allows educators to dream big and develop game-changing instructional moves and exposure to innovative ways of introducing content. Doug enjoys giving time, energy, and enthusiasm to an organization that gives so much back to the educators in Missoula County Public Schools.

Melissa Redmon – MEF Board Trustee

As a Missoula native, former MCPS student, and parent of MCPS students, I am passionate about supporting our local schools and the mission of the Missoula Education Foundation. I joined MEF to give back to the community I love and to help strengthen the partnership between our schools and community. With 18 years of experience in the financial industry, I understand the impact that a strong educational system has on our community growth. I am excited to work with MEF to support and uplift teachers and students, making sure they have the resources and opportunities they need in order to succeed. In my free time I love camping, going on bike rides with my kids, and spending time with family. I love being able to re-live and share so many of my own childhood memories in Missoula through the eyes of my children, and I feel fortunate to be surrounded by family who still call this place home.

Josh Harteis – MEF Board Trustee

I have been a co-chair of corporate philanthropic committees with a vast array of grassroots and major donor fundraising experience, including logistics and data management. I am a long time Missoulian (27 years), proud parent of MCPS elementary school student. Additionally, I serve as a PTA officer and public education evangelist. Public education is the keystone to an equitable and well-functioning democracy, and MEF seeks to maintain a strong and stable foundation for Missoula’s public schools by supporting and celebrating students across all demographics while maintaining a strong commitment to being the tide that lifts all ships. The focus on direct and tangible impacts in the classrooms and buildings coupled with the unwavering celebration of student and teacher achievements puts the focus where it is most needed. As a board member, I hope to broaden local community awareness and support. Centralizing and standardizing processes and reporting capabilities. Establishing deliberate, intentional, and recurring financial support and sponsorship.

Ann Wake – MEF Board Trustee

I have been a volunteer board member for the Missoula Education Foundation (MEF) since October of 2021. I have been associated with education all through my children’s lives and in May of 2013 I was elected to the Missoula County Public School Board (MCPS). I then was appointed to the Montana State School Board Association (MTSBA) that same year and served as a Director and President. My goal is always to provide the best quality education to any and all students. To give the best support to students and teachers within MCPS and provide support wherever I can. I believe that MEF is the best supplemental support system, along with the vital community support, for MCPS students and teachers.

Jonah Albertson – MEF Board Trustee

I currently am a Credit Analyst II at Stockman Bank of Montana. Prior to starting my career at the bank, I obtained a degree in Finance from the University of Northern Iowa. In the past, I have served on event planning committees for non-profits, participated in a variety of fundraisers, and led a project fundraising for charity while in college. I was drawn to this organization primarily due to being raised by two parents who have spent their careers in education. Spending my childhood surrounded by educators and in schools gave me a deeper appreciation for the importance of these people & communities than I believe I would have otherwise obtained. Additionally, during this time of my life I constantly noticed the people of my community (Garner, IA) dedicated to improving our school, education, and community. Whether it was through funds raised for the school, scholarships, or time volunteered by businesspeople from our town, the community was committed to creating a better educational experience for the students. I am passionate about serving MEF because I want to support MCPS in the way I was supported as a student. I believe the funds and recognition provided by MEF to MCPS enrich the learning of the students of MEF, as well as allow for teachers to teach at their highest potential. As a board member, my goal is to serve the organization in any capacity they need to facilitate our service to MCPS. Although I am fundamentally trained in finance, I hope that my contribution to the board stretches far beyond that, and through that contribution to bettering MCPS for all.
